De Jong has displayed quality and dynamism to help push City towards a Champions League berth.
Although he may be coveted across Europe, De Jong is happy where he is.
"I can't ever see myself leaving this club," the 26-year-old said.
"City have done so much for me as a player and a person over the last two years. Now the plan is to be successful for a long time to come."
Goalscoring Duck
De Jong's unselfish approach has allowed more flamboyant members of the City side to strut their stuff further up the field.Indeed, it has been suggested manager Roberto Mancini does not require a tight three-man midfield due to De Jong's presence.
However, he is keen to start getting forward more often, and maybe even break his goalscoring duck, which now extends to 84 matches after he hit the post in Saturday's surprise defeat at Aston Villa.
"I am getting closer but to score a goal for City will be brilliant," he said. "I haven't got a celebration planned, even though I've had plenty of time to think about it."
