West Bromwich Albion 1-2 Manchester United

Manchester United made a winning start to 2011 to stretch their lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League.

Wayne Rooney scored his first goal in open play since March to give United the lead after just three minutes with a flicked header.
But the home side levelled in spectacular fashion 11 minutes later when James Morrison thumped in from 25 yards.
Albion should have taken the lead on 62 minutes as they were awarded a penalty when Jerome Thomas cut inside Rio Ferdinand and went over the England skipper's trailing leg. But Peter Odemwingie rolled the spot-kick harmlessly wide.
United grabbed the winner 15 minutes from time when Javier Hernandez glanced home a header from a Rooney corner.
An in-depth match report will be available shortly.
