Marseille set to launch new women's team

French football giants Marseille announced today that they will create a women's football team next season for which they will recruit 22 players in the coming month.
"It's long been the case that we've got used to seeing more girls in this stadium than elsewhere in France, it's time for their passion to express itself on the pitch," said club sporting director Jose Anigo. "The girls want to wear the Marseille jersey and to make the colours of this city shine."
Marseille have set aside two days at their Robert Louis-Dreyfus training ground, 26-27 April, to select the 22 players.
Several big French clubs already have women's teams, including Lyon, who dominate the women's top flight, Montpellier, Paris Saint-Germain, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.
