Captain John Mensah is determined Ghana can become the first African side to beat England when the teams meet in today's friendly international at Wembley.
The Sunderland central defender is unconcerned about Fabio Capello making a host of changes to the England line-up from the side which defeated Wales in Saturday's UEFA EURO 2012 clash. But Mensah is aware of the need to stop his former north-east rival Andy Carroll who is set to start for his country for the first time since his £35 million move from Newcastle to Liverpool.
Mensah said: "This is the first time we are going to play against England so it is very important to us. I'm not too worried about those not playing because anyone who plays for England are capable of doing the job. Maybe the fans would prefer to see people like Wayne Rooney but I don't think those that are playing are not good.
"I know that if they have the national jersey, they are good players. It is going to be an historic match because if we win against England, we make history and we want to do that. We do not under-rate England - whoever plays for them."
Mensah was impressed by Carroll in Liverpool's recent 2-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. He said: "For me, I don't think there is any big difference between him and the other top strikers. All I know is that I know Carroll is a good player.
"I played against him in the Liverpool game recently. The most important thing is to make sure he doesn't penetrate us. He is just coming back from injury but when he played against us, he played well."
Mensah's Sunderland team-mate Asamoah Gyan has been impressed by Jack Wilshere who made his competitive debut for England against Wales. Gyan said: "Wilshere has made a big impression. He is a young lad who is improving so well. He is getting his confidence into the national team. Fabio Capello is a good coach who is improving the players."
Ghana have no injury worries and the main concern to coach Goran Stevanovic is tiredness after the weekend win against Congo. Stevanovic said: "We have no injury worries but just a little tired because we travelled a lot the last two days. We have spent a lot of time flying from Kenya-Congo-Kenya-London. That is a bit of a problem but it will not affect our game."
