Marseille climbed into second place in the Ligue 1 table with victory over title rivals Paris St Germain at the Stade Velodrome. Andre Ayew scored the decisive goal in the 35th minute after Gabriel Heinze's early opener had been cancelled out by Clement Chantome.

The win continued Marseille's late-season surge that has now seen them win six of their past seven league games to move them four points behind leaders Lille.
The only defeat in that run came against Lille last time out at the Stade Velodrome, while their exit from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Manchester United in midweek left them under some pressure to secure victory.
OM took the lead with 16 minutes played when Heinze curled in a free-kick from just outside the area that completely fooled returning PSG goalkeeper Gregory Coupet.
Andre-Pierre Gignac then powered a volley over the crossbar before PSG levelled in scrappy circumstances. Marseille's defence failed to completely clear the danger and while Nene lashed a shot against the post after some neat control the ball fell to Chantome to lash home.
Ayew header decisive
OM snatched the lead back eight minutes later though through Ghana international Ayew, who met a Gignac cross with a firm header.
PSG had a golden chance to level again before the break when Nene cut out a lazy pass from Souleymane Diawara and while he lobbed onrushing goalkeeper Steve Mandanda the ball drifted wide.
OM never looked like they would relinquish their advantage after the break with Ayew firing a low drive that Coupet did well to get fingertips to.
Guillaume Hoarau shot straight at Mandanda at the other end but it was a rare attack for PSG, who could have lost by more only for Gignac to shoot wide and Lucho Gonzalez to be denied by another good Coupet save.
Relegation battles
Caen left it late but eventually saw off the challenge of Ligue 1 basement side Arles to give their own relegation troubles a welcome boost with a 2-0 win. Arles proved stubborn opponents at the Stade Michel d'Ornano, but succumbed in the final 13 minutes to goals from Yohan Molle and Youssef El Arabi.

The result lifts Caen six points clear of the bottom three, but Arles are 21 points adrift of safety, and, with matches running out, it seems a question of when - not if - they will return to Ligue 2.

Nancy eased their Ligue 1 relegation fears thanks to Andre Luiz's early goal as Monaco proved to be their own worst enemies in a 1-0 loss. Luiz headed the 19th-minute winner but Monaco had a host of chances to force their way back into the game, none better than the penalty missed by Chu-Young Park just before half-time.

Victory lifted Nancy six points clear of the relegation zone which still cages Monaco, who are three points adrift of 17th-placed Auxerre with ten matches remaining.
