Lionel Messi - Cristiano Ronaldo head to head

In this week's head-to-head, we look at Leo and CR7's personal records and statistics in matches against Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively.

How They Played This Week
Who came out on top in the recent round of La Liga action?

After failing to score in his last four La Liga games, Messi finally ended his drought with a double against Almeria.
He scored his side's first goal to cancel out the Andalucian's shock lead when he converted a penalty won by David Villa.
The Argentine then went on to assist Thiago Alcantara's goal with a corner delivery that was headed in by the young midfielder. Leo made sure of the points with a late goal as he pounced on an error by Almeria defender Marcelo before clipping his shot past Diego Alves.
Ronaldo started the game on the bench but was eventually introduced in the 61st minute. It was only his second outing in the last six La Liga matches.
It took the Portuguese just nine minutes to find the back of the net against Athletic. Receiving a long ball from Esteban Granero, CR7 outpaced San Jose and checked past the defender onto his right foot before coolly placing his shot into the opposite bottom corner.
It was his 39th goal in all competitions this season, just three away from equalling his personal best tally of 42 in a single campaign.
