Arsenal
Manager Arsene Wenger will take a good look at Ryo Miyaichi during pre-season to assess whether the Japan youngster is ready to fight for a place in the first team. The 18-year-old striker was loaned to Feyenoord after signing a long-term deal with the Gunners in January and has impressed in the Dutch top flight. Wenger revealed if all goes well, then the club could consider applying for a work permit for Miyaichi ahead of the 2011/2012 campaign. "I have only [heard] positive reports about him. He will be with us in pre-season," the Frenchman said. "I think he is good enough, but if he is ready enough to have a place in our team, we will ask for a work permit and try to get him in. What I like about Ryo is that he has good timing with his runs and understands when to go and where to go. That is something very important. He knows how to use his pace and he is an intelligent player. He is a boy who went straight from school football to professional football and straight away was the best player in Feyenoord."
Aston Villa
Defender Luke Young has called for a fitting finale to the Barclays Premier League season after the fine win over Arsenal. Villa won 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium and Young would like to see another win at home to Liverpool on the final day of the season on Sunday. Young said: "You look back at the rest of the season following the Arsenal win and there's a bit of frustration, wondering why we haven't been able to replicate that sort of form on a regular basis. "There's frustration that we haven't been able to produce that on enough occasions. We knew we could produce this kind of result in the run-up to the game at the Emirates," he added on the official club website. "We finished sixth three times on the bounce. We know we are a good side and we know we have good players. For whatever reason, things haven't gone great for us this season but next season with a fresh start I feel we can really kick on and try to prove what a good side we are."
Birmingham City
Winger Jean Beausejour is in the Chile squad for the Copa America. Beausejour, who has 33 international caps, will fly out of England on 31st May to join up with Chile who are one of 12 countries taking part in South America's premier tournament. Chile begin the tournament with a game against Mexico in San Juan on July 4 in a game in Group C which also features Uruguay and Peru.
Blackburn Rovers
Mauro Formica has been called up to the Argentina national squad for two forthcoming friendlies. The midfielder, who scored for the reserves against Chelsea in the Reserves League Final on Monday, is named in the squad for the matches against Nigeria and Poland next month. Argentina travel to face Nigeria in Abuja on June 1st, before making their way to Poland for a friendly in Warsaw on 5th June.
Blackpool
Ian Holloway admits he is weary of the constant speculation surrounding Charlie Adam's future. Adam has been continually linked with a move away from Bloomfield Road with Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa all failing with January bids for the midfield playmaker. A host of clubs are expected to try and prise Adam away from Blackpool when the transfer window reopens in the summer. The Scot's future remains unclear as Blackpool battle to stay up and Holloway admits he is bored of the rumours. "I'm sick of the Charlie Adam show. We've got him on a contract for next year," Holloway said. "Everybody's in the market, and if people don't pay us respect and don't pay us the right amount of money, Charlie won't be going anywhere. If they liked him that much they should have bought him when I did. If anybody wants him, they know he's got one year left on his contract and they had better offer us a damned sight more than they insulted us with in January. He's one of the six best players in this league according to his fellow players (who voted him on to the shortlist for PFA Player of the Year) and that speaks volumes."
Bolton Wanderers
Ricardo Gardner hopes he can extend his time at Bolton, but for now is simply focusing on Wanderers' run-in, which concludes with Sunday's home match against Manchester City. The midfielder has been with Wanderers since 1998 and his current deal at the Reebok Stadium runs out this summer. "I don't even want to think about my contract, I just want to go out there and help my team-mates get the win we play each game for," Gardner said. "I haven't spoken to the manager yet but we'll see what happens at the end of the season. It would be great to get a new deal and push on from there but at the end of the day it's up to the manager. I'd be pleased to stay on here."
Chelsea
Fabio Borini is hoping to remain in England this summer, but admits his Chelsea career is over. The Italian was offered a new deal by the Blues earlier this season, but has failed to agree terms on an extension to his Stamford Bridge contract. He is now planning to move on once his current deal expires and has set his sights on turning out in the Premier League in 2011/12. He may reach that level with loan employers Swansea, who he joined in March, after helping Brendan Rodgers' side into the Championship play-off final. Borini has hinted that he would be willing to discuss a permanent move should the Swans win promotion, but insists any talk regarding his future can wait until after his date with destiny at Wembley on 30th May 30. "It is a fact I will leave Chelsea, because I didn't renew the contract," he said. "I want to carry on playing and I would like to stay in England because it is the best football in Europe. Negotiations went wrong at Chelsea so we both chose to go away and let the contract expire. At the end of the season they will get some compensation for me as a young player. But it is too early to think about the transfer window. I think about Wembley now and that is it."
Everton
Everton's Russian midfielder Diniyar Bilyaletdinov will miss the last match of the Barclays Premier League campaign and the first two league matches of next season after the club's appeal against his red card at West Brom on Saturday was dismissed. The 26-year-old was shown a red card for what referee Anthony Taylor deemed to be a high challenge on Baggies midfielder James Morrison after 77 minutes at the Hawthorns. A statement on Everton's official website read: "The Blues were informed on Tuesday afternoon that referee Anthony Taylor's decision would be upheld, thus ruling Bilyaletdinov out of Sunday's Premier League finale against Chelsea, as well as the first two games of next season. The appeal was dismissed in spite of Morrison providing a statement in support of the Everton player."
fulham
Mark Hughes will be delighted if Fulham secure a Europa League spot via the Fair Play League but he is wary of the pitfalls of additional matches and early qualifying rounds. He said: "It is a difficult competition to negotiate because of the time frame and the amount of games you have to play. If you want to progress you have to come back very early and start playing football almost immediately when you come back."
Liverpool
Midfielder Alberto Aquilani's agent has admitted that he is still unsure over where the player will be for next season. The Italy playmaker has spent the 2010/11 campaign on loan at Juventus from Liverpool, but their first option to sign the 27-year-old on a permanent basis expired on Sunday, opening up an opportunity for other clubs to pursue him. Reds manager Kenny Dalglish has previously indicated that he would have Aquilani back at Anfield if he had the opportunity, but no decision has been made yet. Liverpool signed Aquilani for a fee believed to be up to £20m from Roma in 2009 as a replacement for Xabi Alonso, but injuries and a lack of fitness severely hindered his single campaign on Merseyside. Former Reds boss Roy Hodgson let Aquilani join Juve to give him regular first-team football, but it appears the Italy international wants to stay in his homeland. The player's agent Franco Zavaglia however denied any link with Inter Milan, AC Milan or former club Roma. "I don't know if there are still possibilities for him to remain at Juventus, I cannot say, you have to ask to Juventus," Zavaglia said. "I had to do everything I did in September, now it depends on them and I cannot talk about figures. Aquilani is a Liverpool player and will possibly return to England, but it is clear that, if there was the opportunity to stay in Italy he'd stay here. Inter Milan and AC Milan for the player? No, currently there aren't these opportunities. A return to Roma? There is nothing."
Manchester City
Midfielder Nigel de Jong says the players might be tempted to do "something crazy" in a bid to prevent Carlos Tevez leaving Eastlands. The Argentina striker and club captain is in a dilemma about his future plans because of the difficulties of being separated from his daughters. Tevez has been key to City's success this season and took his goals tally to 20 with a brace in the victory against Stoke on Tuesday night. De Jong said: "Everyone will respect his decision but he is one of our main players and important for this club. We have to make sure he will stay, and we will do anything in our power to do that. Maybe we will get some Argentinian dancers over, or sometimes do the rumba in the dressing room. We might do something crazy to persuade him but he is a happy guy and he loves the team so we will see what happens."
Manchester United
Sir Alex Ferguson fears that giving up football will harm his prospects of enjoying a long life. The Manchester United manager is basking in the glory of his club achieving a record 19th title. And the 69-year-old's enthusiasm shows no sign of waning as they prepare to bring the curtain down on the domestic season on Sunday when they face Blackpool at Old Trafford. "I have no plans to retire, I must say that and (my wife) Cathy is delighted. She would have thrown me out, " he said at the club's annual awards ceremony. "The salient point is that whilst my health is good, carry on. You hear many stories of people who come off the treadmill and their system breaks down. I don't want that happening to me."
Newcastle United
Manager Alan Pardew has been delighted with the way the side he inherited from Hughton in December has coped with life back in the big time, but he is looking for a significant improvement next season. He said: "We haven't scored a lot of goals away from home, for example - in fact, I think we have got the worst (total) in the division, so we need to make sure that improves. Like any manager, I am starting to review now and we have got to make sure next year we are stronger in all departments."
Stoke City
Manager Tony Pulis has been warned as to his future conduct by the Football Association after making complimentary comments about referee Howard Webb. Pulis praised the appointment of Webb for his side's FA Cup semi-final against Bolton last month prior to the game. The Potters boss is the latest manager to fall foul of new FA rules stipulating managers should not comment on referees before matches. Manchester United's Sir Alex Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti of Chelsea have both been similarly warned in recent days. Pulis said of Webb: "He's as good as there is. What makes him special is that little bit of an aura he has about him." A statement read: "The FA has today warned Tony Pulis as to his future conduct. The Stoke City manager's warning relates to his pre-match media comments prior to the FA Cup semi-final against Bolton Wanderers on April 17." Sunderland
Phil Bardsley picked up both the Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season awards at the club's end of seasoj dinner. England midfielder Jordan Henderson was named Young Player of the Season.
Tottenham Hotspur
Peter Crouch insists Spurs are determined to finish the season in style against Birmingham on Sunday. Victory over Blues at the Lane will secure fifth place in the Barclays Premier League and a place in the Europa League next season. Sunday's 2-0 win at Liverpool moved Tottenham back ahead of Kenny Dalgish's men going into the final weekend of the season. "We didn't want the season to just fade away," said Crouch "The fans who travelled to Liverpool expected the team to perform and we didn't want it to just drift off. We'd missed out on the Champions League next season and it would have been easy to let the season fall away but the manager said there was no way we could do that. To beat an in-form Liverpool team at Anfield was great and we have to make sure we finish the season strongly in front of our own fans against Birmingham."
West Bromwich Albion
West Brom are to increase the capacity of the Hawthorns to 30,000 within the next three years. Albion owner Jeremy Peace has confirmed an extra 3,500 seats will be installed regardless of whether the Baggies retain their Barclays Premier League status. Peace said: "Our medium- to long-term plans include the extension of the Hawthorns to around a 30,000-seat capacity within the next three years regardless of divisional status. We believe it is the right thing to do as we endeavour to move the club forward and pro-actively encourage the next generation of supporters to come to the Hawthorns."
West Ham United
Caretaker manager Kevin Keen believes he has served his apprenticeship and hopes to be considered for the job on a permanent basis. The Hammers sacked boss Avram Grant immediately after the 3-2 defeat at Wigan on Sunday, which confirmed their relegation to the Championship. Former Newcastle manager Chris Hughton remains the bookies' favourite to take the West Ham hotseat, with QPR boss Neil Warnock, Martin O'Neill and Sam Allardyce also mooted as potential candidates. Keen is considered somewhat of an outsider to get the job but has a chance to prove his credentials when he takes control of West Ham's last match of the season against Sunderland this weekend. "I'd love to be given the job," he said. "I'd love to be given that sort of opportunity. At the same time the owners are experienced and they know what they want for next season. They've been chairmen in the Championship before with Birmingham and they'll have a vision of how they want to take the club forward."
Wigan Athletic
Goalkeeper Ali al Habsi is proud to have won Wigan's Player of the Year award. He said: "When I signed for this football club I said I would give 100 per cent. I did that and you see what you get in the end. I try to give 100 per cent in training, in games, in every single minute. In the end when you get awards like this I feel so happy. Maybe this is the start for myself. I have to work hard, give more to everybody."
Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolves owner Steve Morgan has dropped a large hint Mick McCarthy will remain as manager even if the club are relegated from the Barclays Premier League. Former Liverpool shareholder Morgan, who took over the Midlands club in 2007, insists he will never give "the dreaded vote of confidence" to any manager. But he has given his support to McCarthy and has stressed the need for stability rather than chopping and changing as has been the case at other clubs. Morgan said: "You never give the dreaded vote of confidence but Mick has been here for five years and I don't believe you get any progress at all by chopping and changing. Chopping and changing has happened in other clubs and what good has it done them? I know Mick has made progress every year since I've been here. There are times in life when things don't go right but you've got to get back up and stand together and make sure you get it right next time. The fans have seen that, they've got behind the club and everyone benefits from it." Morgan believes Wolves under McCarthy have progressed well since he replaced Glenn Hoddle as manager in July of 2006. He said: "The team has made progress in all four years I've been here under Mick. The first year we missed the play-offs by one goal, the second year we were champions, the third year we established ourselves in the Premier League for the first time in the club's history. This year we are already two points ahead of last year despite being in a relegation fight still."
