AC Milan urged to sign Chelsea FC target Ganso

AC Milan have been urged to sign Santos playmaker Ganso, who is also a summer transfer target for Chelsea

The 22-year-old is believed to be keen on leaving Santos and moving to Europe this summer, with contract talks with the Brazilian club having broken down recently.

Real Madrid and Inter Milan have shown interest in the midfielder, but Serie A champions Milan are believed to be favourites to sign Ganso this summer should he leave South America, and defender Thiago Silva has urged the club's board to bring the player to the San Siro this summer.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: "I have read that the deal has come to a stop. I have read that he may arrive in December, but that's no good.

"Ganso must be taken now. This is the right time."

He added: "To me, it seems like Milan have very clear ideas on how to strengthen the squad. Next year we will try to win everything.

"With the right purchases, we won't feel envious of Barcelona. That's why I said that we must not lose any time with Ganso.

"I want to lift the Champions League trophy. It is a dream that I've had ever since I was a little child."

Santos president Luiz Alfaro de Oliveira Ribeiro earlier this week revealed that although he was hopeful of signing Ganso to a new deal, the club would not improve the offer that is currently on the table.

"We do not have more to offer, we made the best proposal possible for him," he said.

"But I am going to raise the subject with the board of directors this week so we can talk to him."
