Michel will go back to being a Getafe fan after the La Liga club decided his contract as coach would not be renewed.
The club announced on their website yesterday that the 48-year-old would not be in charge of the first team next season as his deal was not being extended.
Michel said in a statement: "After three seasons with happy endings and more than 100 games as coach of Getafe, it is time to end my professional relationship with the club - but not my personal relationship, as I have love and appreciation for this club and I could never forget my time here.
"The happy circumstances that have surrounded my professional development here make my memory a pleasant and endearing one and now I become a fan again, wherever my career takes me."
I have love and appreciation for this club and I could never forget my time here.
Michel, former Getafe coach
The former Real Madrid player took up the Getafe reins in April 2009 and led the club to a sixth-placed finish and a UEFA Europa League berth the following season.
Dubai-based Royal Emirates Group completed their takeover of the club last month and are said to have set their sights on European qualification next term.
Getafe narrowly avoided relegation from La Liga earlier this month, finishing 16th - just one point above the drop-zone. Michel thanked his players for their efforts in keeping the club in the top flight.
He added: "I would not want to overlook or not publicly acknowledge the huge effort made to keep this club in the Primera Division and I am proud of my contribution and the will, dedication and imagination of the group to get such amazing results."
