Palermo to sell Pastore as FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC, Real Madrid CF on alert

Palermo are ready to sell Javier Pastore after the playmaker, who has been linked with Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid, admitted he wanted to leave the club

Pastore on Friday revealed that "the moment has come to leave Palermo" (see below) and now club president Maurizio Zamparini is ready to cash in on the 21-year-old, who has been valued at anywhere from €30million to €50m based on Zamparini's recent comments to the press.

A number of clubs are believed to be interested in signing the Argentina international, including Premier League champions Manchester United and Serie A champions AC Milan.

Barca and Chelsea are leading the race to sign the midfielder and although Zamparini is yet to receive any firm bids for his prize asset, he admits he is likely to lose the highly-rated player in the coming weeks.

"I am almost resigned [to losing him]," he said. "More than me, he speaks with his agent and there are big clubs who want him.

"I don't feel offended. It's logical that at the maximum he could have stayed on for another season, but at the same time if he stayed then he would be under more pressure, and we would not see the same Pastore."

On a valuation for Pastore, he said: "I have stated his value many times before. Consider I paid €19m (£17.5m) for him when he was 18.

"The offers will likely arrive via his agent."

Napoli have become the latest club to show interest, but Zamparini does not believe they are in the running.

"I think he is out of budget for our friend [Napoli president Aurelio] De Laurentiis," he added. "It's difficult for Italian clubs.

"Spanish football is better for players like Pastore. Real Madrid? They will only get him if Kaka leaves."
