Porto striker Radamel Falcao has claimed
he is negotiating a new contract with the club despite admitting he
wants to join Chelsea.
The Colombia
international has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge ever since
former Porto boss Andre Villas-Boas was appointed as the Blues' new
manager last month.
But despite the 25-year-old
being quoted as saying earlier this week that Chelsea are a club he
"dreams" of playing for, and despite reports in Portugal last week
claiming he had already agreed personal terms with the west London
outfit, Falcao has claimed he is in talks with Porto.
He told AS:
"We are negotiating my renewal with FC Porto. I have a release clause
which is accessible to some clubs in Europe, but in this case we are
planning to increase it.
"I am in a good moment
and at a very organised institution. This is a high-level team, with
excellent players, and that has allowed me to take an important step.
"I know that moment will come, but for now I am only thinking about Porto. I am distancing myself from speculation.
"I learned about an alleged interest from Real Madrid, but I am fine at Porto."
Falcao's existing deal has a €30million release clause, which Chelsea were believed to be prepared to pay.
