Playing their match in hand over Barclays Premier League leaders Manchester United, the Gunners looked to have cut the gap on Sir Alex Ferguson's men to just four points when they were awarded a penalty in the seventh minute of stoppage time, added for an injury to Jamie Carragher.Jay Spearing brought down Cesc Fabregas in the box and Robin van Persie calmly slotted home the spot-kick. But with the clock showing 101 minutes, Emmanuel Eboue bundled over Lucas Leiva as they chased a loose ball in the box. Referee Andre Marriner pointed to the spot and Dirk Kuyt slammed home the equaliser with not even enough time to kick off.
Laurent Koscielny had earlier hit the bar with a first-half header while Pepe Reina saved well from Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner late on.
