The rivalry between Manchester's top football teams continues as both United's Berbatov and City's Tevez topped the Barclays Premier League goal scoring table for the season with 20 goals each, meaning both have claimed the honour.
The joint top goal scorers also contributed to a record Barclays Premier League season as a new standard was set with 1,063 goals scored beating the previous record of 1,060 set in the 1999/2000 season.*
Manchester City talisman Tevez opened his account with a brace against Liverpool in August, as well as scoring a memorable solo goal in a home win over defending champions Chelsea. A hat-trick against West Bromwich Albion in February helped him stay in touch with Berbatov, and a recent brace against Stoke City brought him level to jointly win the award.
Berbatov and Tevez will now each receive a Barclays Golden Boot trophy and will be given £20,000 each by Barclays to donate to a charity of their choice. *1,063 goals is a Premier League record for goals scored since the Premier League was reduced to 20 clubs at the beginning of the 1995/1996 season.
