Kean intends to speak to Schalke in the next fortnight after the United States midfielder's successful loan spell.
He said: "If we can keep him at the club that will be fantastic. Jermaine is happy, his kids are in school. Hopefully he can see what we have done and we can get him on the books.
"We will sit down with Schalke in the next couple of weeks as he has been outstanding for us."
"When you look at the game against Wolves it looked like it was the Jermaine Jones twins out there," added Kean.
"It looked like there were two of him on the pitch at times, one sitting deep, the other one three seconds later in the opposing box.
"That is what he has got and if we can keep him in the club beyond this season it will be fantastic."
