Chelsea FC or Liverpool FC to sign Romelu Lukaku this week?

Chelsea are expected to sign Anderlecht striker Romelu Lukaku in the next week, with the 18-year-old keen on joining the club by Monday

A number of clubs have shown interest in the highly-rated teenager in recent months, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City all linked with the Belgium international, along with the likes of Inter Milan and Real Madrid.

Chelsea have been seen as favourites to land the forward for some time, and Lukaku is keen on sorting out his future in the next dew days, with a move to the Premier League expected.

He was quoted by the Daily Mirror as saying: "I would like my future settled by next Monday.

"My college exams start the next day and I don’t want any other concerns.

"I’ll be going to be one of the top two or three clubs in England – or else I’ll stay at Anderlecht.

"I want to leave, because I want to score goals in a stadium where there are 50,000 people, and play in the Champions League."

Chelsea are also believed to be keen on signing Genk's £12m-rated striker Kevin De Bruyne, who would likely be shipped out on loan - to Anderlecht if Lukaku moves to Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku recently told the News of the World: "The English league is the one best suited to me. I would move to England. It's the top for me.

"I watch Chelsea and Manchester United, they are always both at the top. Those teams have real leaders on the field, players who want to win.

"They are all fighters. I want to play in bigger championships with bigger players and with bigger coaches."
