Chelsea are ready to sell Nicolas Anelka this summer, with Neymar being lined up as a possible replacement to play alongside Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres next season
After a trophyless season, Chelsea are expected to make big changes over the summer and as well as looking to install a new manager in the next week or two will make several new signings.
Santos' 19-year-old striker Neymar remains high on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's list of transfer targets and according to the Daily Mirror, the Blues will make room for the Brazil international by offloading France international Anelka.
Prior to the sacking of Carlo Ancelotti as manager, Abramovich was reported as being ready to make a £30m bid for Neymar, in what was seen as an early sign that Ancelotti was set for the sack.
But despite earlier reports that Neymar's arrival would lead to Drogba leaving the club, the Mirror reports that whoever is appointed as Ancelotti's successor will be asked to find a way to make the Ivory Coast international's partnership with Torres work next season.
That would mean Anelka is sold, although where he would end up remains to be seen, as his huge wages at Stamford Bridge would likely put off most - if not all - Premier League clubs.
Should Santos refuse to let Neymar leave Brazil, Chelsea could still turn their attentions to Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero, who has handed in a transfer request and looks set to leave the club this summer, with a number of sides across Europe showing interest.
