Desailly delight at judging role

Marcel Desailly is thrilled to be a judge for the Barclays Fan of Hong Kong competition.

The Chelsea legend will be part of the panel aiming to find fans that go the extra mile to support their team, click here for further details.
He said: "I am delighted to be involved in this exciting competition. I am really pleased to be one of the judges to select the best videos and pictures. "It is great for me to interact with the fans and see them capture how important football is in their lives.
"Barclays are giving fans the opportunity to express themselves and talk about how they enjoy Barclays Premier League games, how they behave and how high their passion is.
"Fans take the Barclays Premier League very seriously in Hong Kong. Its magic gives the competition global appeal.
"No other league has been able to capture worldwide attention like the Barclays Premier League.
"There are six or seven teams who have really captured the imagination across the globe but the others are all strong too making it a really competitive league.
"I think its appeal also comes from its diversity and the fact that so many top overseas players choose to go there.
"It means every country can identify themselves with individual players.
"Another big attraction is the way the stadia are set up. They are safe places where you can go with your family but still feel the passion.
"The media helps a lot because the coverage is excellent so people across the world can identify with players."

The judges, led by Desailly, will be looking for entries that show: the efforts fans go to watch matches, the rituals they follow before big games, the passion of their chanting and singing club songs, their unique celebrations, their collections of memorabilia, and ultimately anything else that demonstrates why they are the Barclays Fan of Hong Kong.
Supporters can enter through the competition website - www.barclaysfootball.com - submitting no more than 100 words showing why they are the Barclays Fan of Hong Kong and supported by video or photos of themselves. The closing date for entries is midnight on Sunday 3rd July, 2011.
Ahead of the Barclays Asia Trophy, which will be contested by Chelsea, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers and Kitchee of Hong Kong between 27th and 30th July 2011, Barclays is offering fans the chance to win a money-can't-buy VIP experience at the tournament.
First prize includes a pair of VIP tickets with hospitality to all four matches at this year's Barclays Asia Trophy at Hong Kong Stadium on 27 and 30 July. But it doesn't stop there - the winner will also open the Barclays Premier League Trophy Tour alongside competition judge Marcel Desailly, and then be the first visitor into the exhibition with the Chelsea legend as their personal guide. Five runners-up will win exclusive signed Barclays Premier League merchandise.
Desailly is already looking forward to the tournament which is heading for a sell-out with more than two thirds of the 80,000 tickets already snapped up.

He added: "The Barclays Asia Trophy is a great way to prepare the players and give them a winning mentality for the new season.
"Preparation is key for the campaign both physically and psychologically and this tournament has a real competitive edge.
"Having a trophy to go for will help the coaches to understand the level the players have reached in their preparation.
"There are four matches which will all be played at a very high tempo so the fitness guys can test where the players are at with just two weeks to go until the new season.
"It is a big opportunity for the clubs because the Asian market is huge and growing all the time.
"It is a great chance for the fans to get close to players they have only seen on television. They can see the level and speed of the game which will be really exciting for them.
"The tournament is a great experience for the fans and very useful for the participating clubs."
