Champions League winners Barcelona are reportedly set to launch their latest attempt to sign Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, who is also a target for Manchester City
Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has made 24-year-old Fabregas his top summer transfer target as he looks to finally sign the midfielder after failing over the past two summers.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is facing yet another battle to keep his skipper at the club, with the Daily Mirror reporting that Barca are preparing a fresh £30million bid.
But although the Gunners would almost certainly reject that offer, they would reportedly listen to offers closer to £50m.
The Catalans could struggle to raise that amount, however, after agreeing a £35m deal to sign Villarreal's former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi.
And Guardiola could face competition from Premier League big spenders Man City, who are preparing for their first ever Champions League campaign.
The People recently reported that City are preparing to set a new British transfer record, with the club's Abu Dhabi owners ready to offer £58m for the Fabregas - a fee which would smash the current record of £50m which Chelsea paid for Fernando Torres in January.
A world class midfielder is believed to be one of Roberto Mancini's priorities as he looks for somebody to replace Gareth Barry in central midfield next season.
But convincing Fabregas to move to Eastlands may be a huge ask, with the player believed to be only willing to leave the Emirates in order to return to Camp Nou.
AC Milan have also shown interest in the Spaniard, but recently ruled out making a bid.
