Gareth Bale wanted by Manchester United in £25million deal - report

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to make a fresh bid to sign Tottenham winger Gareth Bale

The Premier League champions have been keen on signing the 21-year-old for some time, while a number of clubs have been linked with the PFA Player of the Year over the past few months.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid and Inter Milan are all believed to have been monitoring the Wales international, while reports earlier this month suggested Manchester City were preparing a £40million bid for the former Southampton player.

But according to Caughtoffside.com, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to launch a bid for Bale in light of recent developments at White Hart Lane relating to Luka Modric, who wants to quit the club to join Chelsea.

Spurs insist Modric and Bale are not for sale, but Ferguson reportedly believes he could lure the midfielder away from the north London club and is preparing to make an opening bid of £25m.

Chelsea have reportedly made an improved bid of the same amount for Croatian playmaker Modric
