Schools from across the North of England, along with the North's Premier League Football Clubs travelled to Broad Oak High School in Manchester to take part in what was to be one of the largest regional tournaments ever seen.
The event was supported and organised by Volleyball England, the Manchester United Foundation and Wigan Sports Development team, and attracted 123 teams to the event which resulted in over 600 young people having the opportunity to experience and enjoy playing in a large volleyball festival.
The festival included U11, U14 and U16 age groups and participants ranged from novice schools, who played in the LPV section of the tournament to more experienced young people who have come through the Premier League 4 Sport programme (PL4S) and made up the PL4S section of the tournament.
The day was a huge success, with all young people thoroughly enjoying the day. It also gave a great opportunity for teachers and parents to see what a fantastic day out a volleyball festival is.

Event coordinator Kerr said: "What and incredible day for volleyball. To have over 600 young people participating and enjoying our sport, many of whom have taken part in the sport for the first time is a tremendous achievement.
"It was a long day, but made worthwhile to see so many young people walk away with awards and smiles on their faces.
"Our aim was to inspire young people to play volleyball, and from the great feedback we have received I am confident those that where part of this grass routes event will continue to play volleyball in the future."
