Upson, 32, is out of contract at West Ham and has become a free agent.
The England defender is desperate to stay in the top flight and both Mick Mccarthy and Neil Warnock want to sign him.
McCarthy is keen to bolster his defence and bring some much needed experience to his backline after they escaped the drop on the final day of the season.
Warnock is also looking to strengthen his squad and knows the quality of Upson could be key for his side if they are to avoid a relegation battle next season.
Upson suffered a nightmare season for West Ham last year and lost his place in the England squad.
But the former Arsenal defender is now looking to get his career back on track and hopes to sort out his long-term future in the next few weeks.
