Neymar has edged a step closer to joining Real Madrid after his agent confirmed the club had agreed a fee with Santos and were able to discuss terms with the striker.
Just hours after the 19-year-old's agent revealed that the striker would prefer to join Real Madrid rather than Chelsea or Barcelona (see below), Wagner Ribeiro has gone on to state that a deal with Los Blancos can now go ahead after the Spanish giants and Santos agreed a £40million transfer fee.
Ribeiro was quoted by Lancenet as saying: "The economical part has been settled between Real Madrid and Santos.
"The [Santos] president himself has already told them to talk to the player, to learn if he wants to go or not.
"Real have already talked to me and made an offer. It only depends on Neymar.
"Santos will get the €45million (£40m) and the player will leave because the release clause has been met."
Following reports in Spain that Real coach Jose Mourinho believes Neymar is the only major signing he needs to make this summer, Ribeiro added: "Barcelona want to buy, but leave him at Santos one more year.
"Of course that [means] Santos prefer Barcelona's offer. I know Neymar wants to stay.
"He will be the one to decide, but only after Copa America."
