Chelsea FC or Real Madrid CF can sign Neymar for £40m confirm Santos

Santos president Luis Alfaro Ribeiro has confirmed that Chelsea and Real Madrid will be able to speak to Neymar this week

The 19-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs throughout Europe, although it is Chelsea and Real who are believed to be leading the chase for the striker, who Santos will demand £40million for.

Neymar has hit out at continued reports suggesting he has agreed to join Jose Mourinho's side this summer.

But Ribeiro has announced that clubs will be able to speak to the Brazil international following the second leg of this Wednesday's Copa Libertadores final against Penarol.

"It is not just Madrid, a lot of other clubs in Europe have been calling us," Ribeiro told reporters on Monday of the interest in his prize asset.

"It is no surprise, it would be strange if they didn't want him.

"If they pay the buy-out clause of €45million and the player wants to go, there is nothing we could do."

Confidently, he added: "The clubs can talk to Neymar after the Libertadores, but I am sure that, if we win the title, the reasons for Neymar to stay will be even stronger.

"I know that dizzying offers will arrive, but the player will earn more if he keeps developing here.

"Next year we celebrate our centenary, we are hopeful of bringing Robinho and Diego back to the club and of keeping Elano and Ganso, and Neymar could be the biggest star of that movie.".

The Blues are believed to be prepared to offer £30m for the striker, but according to The Sun last week, Chelsea could miss out on the starlet as they are unwilling to increase their offer, while Real Madrid are prepared to meet the Brazilian club's £40m asking price.
