Cristiano Ronaldo will join Manchester City - for £400,000 a WEEK

Manchester City would reportedly have to pay £400,000 a WEEK if they are to lure Cristiano Ronaldo away from Real Madrid this summer

The 26-year-old last week said he has no intention of leaving the club this summer following reports linking him with a return to the Premier League.

His comments had come after recent reports in Spain suggested Los Blancos were ready to sell the former Manchester United winger for a record £150million following reports of a bust-up with manager Jose Mourinho.

Both City and Real have stated that no bids have been made, but according to the Sunday Mirror, Ronaldo has told friends that the big spending Eastlands outfit would have to break the bank if they are to lure him away from the Spanish capital.

According to Sunday's report, Ronaldo has told friends that he is a transfer target for City’s Abu Dhabi-based owner Sheikh Mansour and that someone connected to the Sheikh’s family has contacted him informally to offer him a "mindblowing" package.

Ronaldo allegedly told a friend that he wanted a £400,000-a-week deal to move to City as well as guarantees that he would always be the club's highest paid player.

In a list of demands, Ronaldo is also said to have demanded the number 7 shirt and the captain's armband.

A source close to Ronaldo was quoted as saying: "Cristiano says there has been contact between him and a third party. He says that he is extremely flattered at the lengths they’re willing to go to.

"He claimed that they will pay him what it takes to make him a Manchester City player.

"He says he wants £400k as taxes are higher in England."

Ronaldo scored 40 goals in La Liga last season as well as helping his team-mates win the Copa del Rey.

But that is the only trophy he has won at the club and the Portugal international is believed to be unhappy with his manager's tactics.

Former Italy coach Marcello Lippi - a friend of Man Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson - recently revealed the Scot would re-sign Ronaldo if it was possible, while Ronaldo himself has previously insisted that the only team he would play for in England is United.

But based on the figures being mentioned, City would likely be the only club in the world able to meet his staggering wage demands, with Sheikh Mansour worth an estimated £20billion and his family having assets of almost £600bn.
