The Honduran insists the team are ready to grasp the Barclays Premier League lifeline given to them by their last-gasp win over relegated West Ham United.
Having come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 the Latics head to Stoke on the final day of the season needing at least a point - and probably more - to survive the drop.
"For those three points to have any value we must go and finish the job at Stoke," said the defender, who last season at the Britannia Stadium scored a spectacular free-kick to earn a point.
"Sunday is the biggest match of all. The West Ham result will give us a massive boost going to the Britannia.
"We triumphed over some top-quality players with much to fight for and we must take the character into our final game."
