Lille boss Rudi Garcia and his players are promising to stay focused as they close in on their first Ligue 1 title since 1954. Last night's 1-0 win over Sochaux means they need just one point from their final two games of the season to add to the Coupe de France crown they won at the weekend.
Their first chance to take that point will come against the team they defeated to win the cup, Paris St Germain, at the Parc des Princes on Saturday.
"It is looking good, but it is not over mathematically," Garcia said of the title race. "We are six points ahead of Marseille with a favourable goal difference. Now we will make sure we recover properly for the match at the Parc des Princes, which comes at us very soon on Saturday night, our fifth match in a fortnight. We will do everything to get the title in Paris."
Veteran goalkeeper Mickael Landreau, who has been in this position before having won the title with Nantes a decade ago, warned his team-mates to keep their focus despite an atmosphere of celebration at the Stade Lille-Metropole last night.
"It's one more win and the three points are very important," he said. "To do this so soon after the cup final is very hard, but there was still a big burst of energy in the team and it helped us get the points.
"It's a big step towards the title, we're closer but we're not there already. We still need another point...Nothing is done yet. Imagine if Marseille win 3-0 against Valenciennes and we lose in Paris. The gap would be cut but obviously we're in a better position."
Defender Aurelien Chedjou added: "It's nice to have three more points. We've won difficult matches but we still need a point to cross the finish line. In the dressing room, there was joy and relief.
"We are close now, but you do not take it for granted and we need to continue to make great efforts until we are crowned. We know anything can happen and it would be stupid if we failed now."
