Wenger: We deserved it

Arsene Wenger felt the 1-0 win over Manchester United was merited after Arsenal controlled the match for long spells.

Aaron Ramsey's second-half winner breathed new life into the title race, writes Stewart Coggin.
Chelsea are now just three points behind United with an equal goal difference after Arsenal put recent disappointments behind them to beat the Red Devils at the Emirates Stadium.
"We had a good performance," said Wenger. "We showed discipline, fighting spirit and our usual passing game. Until we scored the goal I felt we completely controlled the game, then because we had not won a lot recently we tried to protect our advantage and came under pressure but overall I feel we deserved to win the game."
Wenger feels a lack of maturity at key moments has undermined his team's title bid. The Gunners are six points off the pace after recent slip-ups but the Frenchman still harbours minor hopes of a title miracle.
Chelsea travel to Old Trafford next weekend, and Wenger will be hoping for a Blues win.

"We have gone through a very difficult period," he continued. "I think the team lacks a bit of maturity under pressure. We had to deal with some big disappointments and I felt that had a subconscious impact on our team.
"I felt so strongly that we would win this championship. I have not given up hope because we want to fight until the last second of the season. We were really unlucky until now and let's hope we have a bit more luck in the final three weeks.
"United are still favourites. If we want to have a small chance, it is in our interest that Chelsea win (at Old Trafford).
Arsenal travel to Stoke City next weekend, the scene of Ramsey's horrific leg break in February 2010. The midfielder impressed against United in the absence of injured captain Cesc Fabregas and Wenger was delighted to see him returning to his best form.
"I'm very happy for him," he added. "His injury happened 14 months ago and he now looks to be back at his best.
"If you look at the age of the team today I think it is a bit of encouragement for the club and the team. We had a very young midfield but were still very positive in our display."
