Rennes reacted to the sale of goalkeeper Nicolas Douchez to Paris Saint-Germain by announcing the arrival of Benoit Costil from second-tier Sedan on a three-year contract today.
Costil, 23, began his career at Caen before joining Sedan and was last season voted the best goalkeeper in Ligue 2 by his fellow professionals. He has not played in France's top flight since the 2007/08 season, when he made five appearances for Caen.
Out of contract at Sedan, Costil replaces Douchez, who joined PSG on a three-year deal on Friday after three years at the Route de Lorient stadium.
