Robin van Persie could quit Arsenal FC - report

Arsenal striker Robin van Persie is reportedly ready to quit the club

With Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy all expected to leave Arsenal this summer, the 27-year-old has become the latest big name to threaten to leave the Emirates this summer in what would be yet another huge blow for Arsene Wenger.

According to the Daily Star, the Netherlands international is prepared to submit a transfer request should Wenger fail to replace Fabregas this summer in the transfer market.

Van Persie, who will likely be made captain if Fabregas joins Barcelona, has reportedly told friends of his growing concern at the club's failure to win silverware as Arsenal have now gone six years without winning a trophy.

The Dutchman is said to be worried that Wenger is bringing in young players with potential to replace Arsenal's star players rather than big names who can make an immediate impact.

In May, it was reported that the Gunners were ready to offer Van Persie a new five-year contract in order to keep him at the club following reports in Italy and Spain that Inter Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid were all considering bids for the Feyenoord forward.
