Aston Villa midfielder Robert Pires has revealed he has received a plea from former Arsenal team-mate Thierry Henry to join him in Major League Soccer next season. The 37-year-old Frenchman signed a short-term contract with the Midlands outfit in October and will be a free agent in the summer. Pires will now speak to the club to find out if he has a future at Villa Park.
"Thierry has phoned me," Pires told the Birmingham Mail. "He called me up and said, 'come over and play with me', but there are no real offers yet.
I still feel fit enough to play. I will still play football even if it is not at Aston Villa.

"I am relaxed about it. I still feel fit enough to play. I've not yet had talks with Villa about staying here after July (when his contract runs out).
"I should know soon hopefully. I have an appointment with Gerard Houllier soon. I hope so and I also hope that Gerard can stay (after his heart problem).
"But I will still play football even if it is not at Aston Villa. If it is not at Villa, I will look for somewhere different."
Pires has had a limited impact impact in his eight months at Villa, making only four starts.
