Wenger insists Fabregas will not join FC Barcelona this summer

Arsene Wenger insists Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will be at the club "for a long time" despite continued speculation that he will join Barcelona this summer

The Spanish champions are set to make a fresh bid for the Spain international in the near future despite confirming last week that they have a limited transfer budget.

Barca revealed last Thursday that they have €45million to spend on new players this summer, meaning the likes of Fabregas and Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez can likely only move to Camp Nou should players be sold to raise additional funds.

Fabregas is top of Pep Guardiola's list of summer transfer targets, with the Barca boss keen on ensuring he does not miss out on the 24-year-old yet again following failed bids over the past two years.

But Wenger has again warned the Catalans that he intends to keep his skipper at the Emirates.

"I will be pretty clear about this," he told The Sun. "For me, Fabregas is with Arsenal for a long time and he will stay with Arsenal.

"It sometimes happens that the rumour can make the transfer.

"Next year will see the introduction of the financial fair play system, which will limit the big transfers.

"I think this is the last year that the summer will be hot - very hot."
