Arsenal FC line up moves for Gervinho and Gary Cahill

Arsenal are hoping to complete the signing of Lille striker Gervinho, with Bolton defender Gary Cahill likely to join him at the Emirates

Lille claimed at the weekend that the Gunners were yet to make a formal offer for Gervinho, despite reports last week suggesting a deal was close to being completed.

But according to the Daily Mirror, further talks and negotiations will take place later on Wednesday, with Lille chairman Michel Seydoux admitting that the 24-year-old wants the move to go through.

"We know that Gervinho has a personal interest in joining Arsenal," Seydoux was quoted as saying.

Arsenal are also in talks with Bolton over the signing of £17million-rated centre-back Gary Cahill, who has been on Arsene Wenger's radar for some time.

The England international is seen by Wenger as the perfect addition to his squad to tighten up his defence.

Although the north London club are reluctant to pay the £17m buy-out clause in Cahill's contract, the transfer is expected to go ahead providing the Trotters agree to a cash-plus-player deal.

The Mirror reports that young midfielder Henri Lansbury could move to the Reebok as part of the deal, while young Spaniard Ignasi Miquel could join Bolton on a season-long loan.

But should Bolton turn down the deal, then Wenger may turn his attention to Blackburn defender Christopher Samba.

Wenger has come in for criticism from some Arsenal fans in recent years for failing to spend big in the transfer market and recently warned that he would not spend huge amounts on English players this summer.
